     ENERFAB SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES FIRST STAGE

    OF MULTI-YEAR PROJECT

ENERFAB is working at a major Midwest university to upgrade their boilers which supply heat to campus buildings. The historic power house building contains 4 existing boilers. Each boiler is to be replaced in succession. The last boiler will be replaced in 2007.

The boilers to be installed are field erected gas-fired Nebraska D type water tube steam generators with LO NOX burners.

The boilers to be installed are field erected gas-fired Nebraska D type water tube steam generators with LO NOX burners. They are rated at 150,000 lbs/hr of dry and superheated steam. Each unit weighs in excess of 190,000 lbs.

A critical factor in the time commitment required to install each boiler is the necessity to field erect each boiler on site. To preserve the historic integrity of the power house, the boilers are knocked down into individual components to fit through large windows in the building.

ENERFAB teamed with local boilermakers, ironworkers, millwrights, and pipe- fitters to successfully complete the first boiler installation on-time in the Fall of 2004. A total of 10,000 Man Hours have been invested in the project to date. Typical of ENERFAB’s commitment to safety, the project had zero OSHA recordables and zero lost time accidents. Beyond the assembly of the boiler itself, new structural steel was added to provide additional

support and anchoring of the unit.

The installation of the second boiler will commence in early 2005. To schedule an on-site visit of the unique project, please contact your ENERFAB sales representative.
